Paying to BREATHE in the UK!!

No one should have to PAY TO BREATHE! However, many people who suffer with asthma are having to shell out vast amounts of money for their medicine every year. The reason for this? Because when this decision was made, asthma wasn't considered as a life threatening illness (what a joke). As most people reading this will know, it is in fact extremely life threatening and kills up to 3 people a day (just in the UK).

We are born with asthma, or get it later on in life by no fault of our own, but the people that over eat and get diabetes are given free medication. I have no issue with this as it is life threatening but its about time asthma sufferers got the support they deserve for this incurable illness.

If you have asthma you will know the unreasonable amount of time you have to wait for your prescription to be signed off. A week to get the medicine you need to breathe, the medication you need to stay alive. Not only must we wait for our medication, but we also have to pay for the apparent luxury of being able to breathe! Just under £15 for both required inhalers and this can be a monthly cost!

Not only do I believe we should have at least some financial support with inhalers, but also 24 hour access to inhalers should be available! Why must I worry about dying because pharmacies have opening times? Why must I order a week in advance for something I have needed for 21 years? I have no idea when I will have an asthma attack and one bad night can use an entire inhaler!! At which point I would have to wait a week for a new one (not exactly a great process).
